Twitter Users Call for Boycott of Heineken Over Vaccine Ads

The hashtag #BoycottHeineken was among the top 5 trends on British Twitter on Friday, with the help of which users call for a boycott of Heineken products. This reaction was sparked by a new ad that the second largest beer maker posted on social media.

In the video, elderly people dance in a nightclub and then swim in the sea. The minute video ends with the caption “The night belongs to the vaccinated. Time to join them.”

Some Internet users perceived the advertisement as advocating vaccination. The most active of them began to upload videos in which they pour Heineken beer into the sink in protest.

It is not the first time Heineken has faced adversity: in 2018, the manufacturer had to withdraw ads due to allegations of racism. In a video with the slogan “Sometimes lighter is better”, a bottle of beer drove down the bar past several black people to a white girl, CNN wrote.
